The new bnt survey has revealed that although European and international regulatory frameworks and conventions have led to an increase in the harmonization of IP rules between the countries covered by the study, a number of significant differences remain. The most significant differences in CEE jurisdictions concern the protection term for designs (between 5 to 10 years), the possibility to register smells, colours, sounds and 3D marks, membership in international conventions, and – perhaps of most practical relevance – in registration fees and filing procedures: a trademark registration fee in Hungary is more than double the fee in Poland, and more than four times the fee in Latvia, whereas the filing will take between 10 months in the Czech Republic and Lithuania as compared to 24 months in Poland and Belarus.

By 2020 the Polish energy sector has to fulfill EU obligations on achieving a 15 per cent share of renewable energy sources in the end-user energy balance, i.e. energy consumed by end-users. Until now the leader in renewable energy sources has been the wind farm sector, which in recent years has shown the highest growth dynamics. From now on it has been decided to place greater emphasis on developing smaller, diffused energy sources, including biomass and agricultural biogas.
