Attorneys-at-law in Central and Eastern Europe

Manning of the Budapest office dates back to 1999, with co-operation between lawyers Rainer Tom and Dr. Levente Szabó. In 2001 Jan Burmeister joined the consulting team, followed in 2002 by Dr. Éva Ratatics and then Dr. Norbert Varga shortly thereafter.

In 2003 the Budapest partners participated in setting up the bnt group of partnerships and its Budapest office. The Budapest office of bnt is the first law office in Hungary in which German attorneys are also involved as partners.

Today, a team of 28 – of whom 20 are legal specialists – serves the legal needs of businesses with a commercial commitment in Hungary by providing professional expertise in the areas of real estate, corporate, M&A as well as banking and finance law and representation before national and arbitral tribunals. Services tailored to client needs within the range of taxation, payroll accounting and audit can be offered through a developed network of cooperation partners.

Apart from consulting and representing enterprises, acting for public institutions is gaining in significance. Thus in 2006 members of the Budapest partnership represented the Republic of Hungary before a World Bank-assigned arbitral tribunal in an expropriation complaint linked to Budapest airport with a claim value of over 80 million US$.
