bnt Environmental law practice group members from Riga and Tallinn offices, associates Renars Gasuns and Mirjam Vili, participated in the ECHA Third Stakeholders´ Day in Helsinki.

On 7 December the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) organized its Third Stakeholders´ Day in Helsinki. Topics dicussed included the state of play of implementation of the EC Regulation on Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), which entered into force on 1 June 2007, and the Regulation on Classification, Labelling and Packaging of Substances and Mixtures (CLP), which entered into force on 20 January 2009. The new regulatory framework concerns any entity involved in the manufacture or in the supply chain of chemicals or articles containing these substances.
Presentations were given by representatives of the ECHA, the European Commission DG Environment and industry. Additionally, the representative from Hungary gave a short overview of REACH enforcement in Hungary. Presentations on the stakeholder´s day are available on the ECHA homepage.
