bnt advises the Asklepios Clinic Group with a trend-setting Public Private Partnership project with Semmelweis University of Budapest.

The Asklepios group - one of the largest private-commercial hospital enterprises in Germany with approximately 100 medical facilities and over 35.000 staff - and the Budapest Semmelweis University are breaking new legal ground: In an international co-operation between a public university and a private hospital operator, so far unique in this form in Europe, the partners are establishing a transnational course of studies in medicine in Germany and Hungary under Hungarian university law. With that aim, the Asklepios Medical School GmbH is assigned by the Semmelweis University of Budapest to hold the clinical study section of the German-language medicine course of studies in Hamburg. The Medicine Faculty of Semmelweis University of Budapest is establishing a branch in Hamburg for this purpose. The project ties in with Semmelweis University of Budapest’s long tradition of German-language training in the pre-clinical study module.
The German-language course of studies offered in Hamburg and Budapest is subject to supervision of the Hungarian university administration and requires accreditation under Hungarian law, which is currently being organized. The first students will presumably begin their studies from 1 September 2008 at the newly-established Asklepios campus Hamburg of the faculty of Medicine of Semmelweis University of Budapest. Studies completed in this way are fully recognized in Germany and Hungary.
